the Ryder Cup!

Golfers are being offered the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with the Ryder Cup trophy at this year’s Scottish Golf Show.

Courtesy of national events agency EventScotland, the famous gold trophy will be making an appearance on the opening day of this year’s golfing showcase, April 4, and golfers are being urged to come along and have their photo taken with the iconic cup.

Contested 36 times in total, the trophy has been won on the past three occasions by Europe – but, with this year’s match between Nick Faldo’s European team and Paul Azinger’s American side set to be the closest yet, who’s to say when we might next see the trophy on this side of the Atlantic.

That’s why coming along to the Scottish Golf Show on Friday, April 4, is a ‘must’ as that is the only day the Ryder Cup will be at the three-day golfing bonanza before it starts its journey to Valhalla GC in Kentucky, venue for this year’s match.

Paul Bush OBE, Chief Operating Officer of EventScotland said: “EventScotland is delighted to be able to give the golfing community the chance to see this legendary prize at the Scottish Golf Show on April 4.

“EventScotland is the lead agency as Scotland prepares to host the 2014 Ryder Cup, and a key part of our work is supporting a number of professional golf events. In 2008 these are the Ladies Scottish Open, the Scottish Challenge, the Senior Open Championship, and the Scottish Seniors Open.

“By investing in these events we aim to broaden interest and participation in the sport whilst helping Scotland retains its reputation as the Home of Golf.”

Show director Tom Lovering added: “I am absolutely delighted that this year’s Scottish Golf Show will be graced by the presence of the Ryder Cup, one of the world’s most iconic and most instantly-recognisable trophies.

“I would strongly urge all visitors who have yet to decide which day they intend to come to the show to come along on the opening day – Friday, April 4 – and have their photograph taken with this internationally-renowned and prestigious sporting prize. It is truly a one-day-only, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you just won’t want to miss.”
